Enhanced Supportive Care

4th April 2022

Real-world, mixed methods evaluations can support commissioners to make evidence-based decisions about health care services.

In September 2020, an Enhanced Supportive Care programme was implemented at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The programme seeks to identify patients with cancer who may benefit from earlier access to supportive care. An Enhanced Supportive Care team has been established through funding of additional staff; facilitating earlier patient identification and provision of ongoing supportive care.

The service provided by Unity Insights included utilising health economic modelling alongside quantitative and qualitative data collection. The summary report provides an overview of the evaluation, including outcomes from the health economic modelling.

The outcomes of the evaluation have also been published in the BMJ Supportive & Palliative Care Journal. Read the paper here, or contact us for a PDF copy.
