Vacancy – Senior/Lead Analyst

Salary: £35,000 – £53,000

Base: Working from home with opportunity to periodically work from our offices in Gatwick/Crawley and other satellite sites

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Lead Analyst working in a nationally sought-after team within Unity Insights. As a social enterprise tasked with speeding up innovation in the NHS and broader healthcare, the projects are varied, working with a broad range of stakeholders to make change happen. The role entails engaging many different analytical and evaluation techniques to build evidence bases that enable better decision making. You will lead analytics projects and lead/line manage team members to ensure Unity Insights continues to further its reputation for high quality analytics and evaluation services.

The role would suit a candidate who has acquired sound experience of analytics in their field or evaluation methods, preferably with a background within healthcare or the NHS, although other industries will be considered too. Alternatively, those with a proven track record in health economics, econometrics, or within a scientific based role would also have strong foundation for this position. The candidate will inspire those around them, driving change and developing others.

Skills and experience required


  • Degree qualification reflecting strong numeracy skills and understanding of statistical techniques or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of leading projects and/or teams within a relevant organisation/industry in a numerical/analytical post.
  • Experience of training and coaching others in the interpretation of information and the use of statistical methods.
  • Expert knowledge of the use of tools and techniques in data collection, manipulation, and analysis, including planning, forecasting and modelling, and database development.
  • Ability to present complex information and analysis to non-technical staff in a user-friendly and easy to understand way.
  • Expert in using analytical and database software, including extensive knowledge of MS Office applications for managing, analysing, and presenting information.
  • Ability to create, and oversee creation of, written reports, using a high standard of written English and language appropriate for the audience and purpose.
  • Forensic attention to detail in both numerical and written documents.
  • Enthusiasm to drive positive change within the healthcare industry.
  • An innovative thinker, constantly searching for new ways to approach problems and find solutions, showing drive, energy, enthusiasm, and determination.
  • Highly motivated, demonstrating a positive professional attitude, integrity, reliability, and friendly manner.


  • Relevant post-graduate qualification in a mathematical/scientific field.
  • Work experience and/or an educational background within the NHS / healthcare / research industry.
  • Expert knowledge of health-related data sources and information flows and their scope and limitations.
  • Background in health economics (degree qualification and/or experience)
  • Competent in the application of a broad range of statistical principles and techniques including measures of variation, SPC, distribution and standardisation.
  • Experience of leading projects and/or teams.
